Back to School with The Paper Nest Dolls

I know, it's been 'back to school' for almost a month hahaha but I love this stamp.  Any stamp featuring books warms my heart, what can I say.  And as I sit here typing, I am fighting what I am fairly certain is the flu.  Yes, the dreaded flu!  But enough of that yuk, let's move on to much better things :)

Here is Back to School by The Paper Nest Dolls.

I have colored her using my Copics, Prismacolor Markers and Prismacolor Premiere Pencils in the following colors:

I am back with another in my Gorjuss feature for Quick Creations.  I just love these urban stamps, so much versatility :)

To finish this project, I used Trimcraft Floral Pavillion 6 x 6 paper, the CC Designs Make a Card 5 die set,  paper flowers from my stash and some May Arts ribbon, and some sequins from my stash as well :)

This was my very first shaker card!  I enjoyed making it, and although it took me a while tom try it out, I'm glad I did.  Just a tip...if you can't find acetate sheets, look in your scrapbooking stash for album page covers :)  Don't ask me why, because I am not a scrapbooker, but I just happen to have a package of these, and they work great!

For this Gorjuss rubber stamp, and others as well, come and visit Noelle's online shop at Quick Creations!  You can also find us online on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram :)  She has a great Autumn sale going on right now!

Some Shabby Mini Journals with Crafty Ribbons

Hello everyone, I have something cool to show you.  I am so excited about these mini journals.  I watched a video on Youtube by Lyriclover810, and she gives a quick tutorial on these, they are so much fun!  I am so glad I had some of these little composition books in my stash, I made five of them in very quick time!

I am using these as my inspiration projects for Crafty Ribbons this week.  Why?  Because I used Crafty Ribbons to embellish these awesome little journals, that's why!  And they turned out so gorgeous!

To finish these shabby mini journanls, I used Lace and ribbons from Crafty Ribbons:

Clermont Cotton Lace in various colors,
Morlaix Cotton Lace in various colors,
Volcan Viscose Lave in various colors, and
Vintage Butterflies Ribbon Script,
Vintage Butterflies Ribbon Bikes Creme,
Vintage Butterflies Ribbon Keys Latte ,
Vintage Butterflies Ribbon French Creme

To find more of this beautiful lace and ribbon (and let me tell you, it is supreme) you can visit the ribbon emporium at Crafty Ribbons, and don't forget to come and join the bi-weekly challenge over at the challenge blog!

Christmas Cards with The Paper Nest Dolls

Christmas is coming soon!  Are you getting ready yet?  Have you bought any gifts?  Have you been making your Christmas cards?  Well, myself, I have about 3 Christmas cards made, lol, and zero gifts purchased.  Don't worry, I still have time :P

For my Paper Nest Dolls inspiration project this month, I chose to create with one of Christine's Christmas images, that were released in July.  This is Elf Ellie with Gifts, isn't she cute!

This is also my first character colored with pencil crayons and oms :)  I used my Lyra Rembrandt Polycolors in the following colors:

Hat:  27, 33
Hair:  87, 82, 75, 76
Skin:  29, 32, 31, 30, 90
Shirt/Skirt:  74, 73
Leggings:  97, 96, 27, 33
Belt/Shoes:  82, 76, 75
Gifts:  27, 33, 74, 73, 97, 96

I completed this project using a Close to My Heart sentiment stamp, paper from the My Mind's Eye Vintage Christmas 12 x 12 paper pad, and some burgundy twine from Spritz.  I also used Aged Mahogany and Peeled Paint Distress Inks from Ranger.

This was a fun new technique for me, and I do intend to do more of this, however, I will be trying it with my Prismacolor Pencils instead of the Lyras.  Even though the Lyras are creamy and oil based, I don't have all that many, and I like the color choices I have with my Prismacolor Premiere Pencils.

You can find this and the other July Christmas releases, as well as a whole host of sweet PND rubber stamps in the online shop :)  And don't forget to come and join us for the monthly challenge over on The Paper Nest Dolls Challenge Blog!

See you soon!

The Paper Nest Dolls with Quick Creations

I am back with a fun and fall-colored Paper Nest Dolls image called "Flower Friend" for Quick Creations :)  Not only do I love the feeling of fall, I also love the colors.  And I colored this cutie pie in fall colors just because I love them...good reason right? LOL!

I colored her using my Copic markers and Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor Pencils in the following colors:

Hair:  YR24
87, 76, 75
Skin:  E000
32, 31, 30, 90
Dress:  YR02
09, 15, 17, 90
Flower:  BG10
61, 53, 58

To finish this project off I also used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Peeled Paint and Spiced Marmalade, Echo Park Summer Bliss 6 x 6 paper, a Hero Arts Stamp for the sentiment, Art Co hanger clip, Piccolo pop-up flower chipboard piece, Heidi Swapp wooden cuts, and paper flowers from Recollections.

You can find some of these items in the shop at Quick Creations, including this cute stamp, and many others from The Paper Nest Dolls.  Noelle is also having a fall sale right now until October 16th so don't forget to go and check it out!

See you soon!

Male-Themed Inspiration for Crafty Ribbons

I have been so focused on the pretty things lol, maybe I am part crow...oh...look...SHINY! LOL!  I went to a Farmer's Market with my cards a couple weeks ago, where I sold every single one of my little boy themed cards (5 lol) within the first hour.  I think I really need to focus on some male-themed cards!

So, for my inspiration post for Crafty Ribbons this week, I did exactly that!

I like to create three cards in a bit of a set, even if they don't stay in a set, lol, it allows me to play a little more with more than one color, or play around with a new technique.  All three of these were created using Tim Holtz Tag Stencils and Distress Inks.

This first card, uses the woodgrain stencil from Tim Holtz, and to complete it I used the Vintage Butterflies Script Ribbon, and the Vintage Butterflies English Latte Ribbon.  I also finished each of these cards with Handmade Ribbon :)

This second card was finished using the Vintage Butterflies Keys Creme Ribbon and some 35mm Satin Ribbon in New Turq.  I also used the clock stencil from Tim Holtz.

And for this last card, I used some Vintage Butterflies Keys Latte Ribbon and some 35 mm Satin Ribbon in Cypress.  Also this card shows two stencils from Tim Holtz, the burlap and the bubble stencils.

Come and join us on the inspiration blog so see tons of inspiration using Crafty Ribbons ribbon, lace and buttons, and if you are looking for some ribbon, come and visit the Ribbon Emporium!

And don't forget to come and join the challenge!  There is a new one up every other week :)

My attempt at a Journal Page, and lessons learned

Hello everyone, I have been remiss in adding projects I do outside of my DT projects.  I have decided I need to post even the ones I make mistakes on, and that way I can learn from my mistakes, and hopefully you can too.

I have recently purchased some gelatos and wanted to make a journal page on black paper.  So I gave it a shot, but...lol...the card maker in me showed up unexpectedly and gave the journal page some matting, which really isn't what you want to do on the journal page...so it doesn't flow like it should.  This is my lesson learned for this project hahaha.  Otherwise, I like it, I like the way it turned out on the black with the metallic gelatos.  And the quote speaks to me in many ways, after the year my daughters and I have been through.  So it came from the heart.  And that's what counts in my book :)

Hope you enjoy :)

A Beautiful New Release for The East Wind

Hello all, it's new release day at The East Wind, and this one, is not any less spectacular than any other.  I mean, Unky's images are so real and so much fun.  I just love them, that's it, that's all, I just love them.  Lol.

This new release is called "Untitled", and when I asked Unky why she called it that, she told me that she didn't want to tell people how they felt about the image.  She wants people to come up with their own emotion about this image.  Brilliant Unky.  I am so mesmerized by this image.

I have colored her using my Copics, Prismacolor markers and Prismacolor Premiere Pencils in the following colors:

Hair:  PB130
PC925, 935
Skin:  E00
PC927, 939, 1029, 1082
Eyes:  YG03
PC911, 988, 1097, 1052
Lips:  E04
PC1019, 1029, 938

To finish this piece I used paper from the 6 x 6 Jillibean Soup Country Pumpkin Chowder paper pad, a Momenta die and Recollections paper roses from Michael's.  The stamp is a Tim Holtz sentiment stamp.

She looks forelorn to me, so I decided to use her in a 'missing you' card.  It seemed to fit.  But that's only my feelings about this image.  Make sure when you color her, you have your own emotions about it :)

To purchase this or any other of Unky's original images, please visit the Etsy shop here.  You can also find The East Wind on Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook!  Hope to see you there soon!

Challenge time at Quick Creations :)

Noelle Martin asked me to do a piece for her challenge blog this month over at Quick Creations, and how could I say no?  She is too good to me :)

So in the spirit of fall, yes, I'm afraid it is upon us, lol.  Although it is my favorite season, I will miss the warmth of the summer sun for sure.  In the spirit of fall, the challenge theme is fall!

I have chosen Ladybird, by Santoro's Gorjuss, for this piece and colored her in fall colors :)

The colors of fall are some of my favorite, so I really enjoyed making this piece for Noelle.  I have colored her with my Copics, Prismacolor markers and Prismacolor Premiere Pencils in the following colors:

Hair:  E23
PC1082, 946, 935
Skin:  E00
PC927, 939, 1029
Dress:  PB82, YR02
PC1033, 1032, 944, 943, 945, 948
Tights:  PB82
PC1052, 945, 1032, 944
Shoes:  E23
PC1082, 946

To finish this card, I used K&Company Fall harvest paper, a Cheery Lynn die and a thanksgiving stamp from my stash.

Noelle has plenty of fun products in her shop at Quick Creations, and you can join in to have a chance to win in the monthly challenge at the challenge blog!

Noelle is also having a fall/back to school sale right now, and there are lots of things discounted in the shop for this sale!

Time for a Challenge at Crafty Ribbons!

Hello all!  I had a wonderful vacation this summer.  How was yours?  I traveled to sunny Manitoulin Island to spend two weeks with my parents.  It was wonderful.

It's challenge time at Crafty Ribbons, and for this challenge, the theme is Happy Birthday!

I created this Happy Birthday card using the Vintage Butterflies Ribbon - Keys in Creme.

I colored these Chrysanthemum digital images from Paper Garden Projects using my Prismacolor Premiere Pencils and OMS.  This was my first project using this method of coloring, and I had them finished and sitting in my basket for months before I decided to use them :)

Creating a bow with ribbon that is patterned on only one side can be very challenging.  I know this first hand lol.  However, if you make some various sized loops and stack them, then wrap them, you have something resembling a fine looking bow!  This technique works great.

On the front side and the inside of this card, I used a cut from the Cuttlebug Flourish Emblem Die.  On the inside, I cut it in half to spread it out over both inside pages, and added a scalloped oval die cut for the greeting :)

Don't forget to come and join the challenge over at the Crafty Ribbons Challenge blog for your chance to win some fabulous prizes!  And if you are looking for some one-of-a-kind ribbon and lace, come and visit the Ribbon Emporium :)  You won't regret the visit, I promise!

A Little Holiday Fairy Twinkles with make it Crafty :)

I have had this image colored for a while, and finally managed to get her on a card.  I love to do some different images every now and then, and this image was perfect :)  This is Fairy Twinkles from Make it Crafty.  I believe it was a freebie for a coloring challenge a while back, but I didn't get it finished in time, lol, go figure...thanks Zoe!

I colored her using my Copics and Prismacolor Premiere Pencils in the following colors:

Hair:  YR00
PC997, 1082, 946, 948, 935
Skin:  E000
PC927, 939, 1029
Bows:  Y21
PC923, 925, 937
Wings:  YG03, R20, E01
PC1005, 911, 908
Dress:  R20
PC923, 925, 937, 1050, 1052
Shoes:  E01
997, 1082

To finish her off I used paper from the Wild Rose Studio Annabelle's Christmas 6 x 6 paper pack.

You can find this and many other awesome images at Make it Crafty, I especially love the flower digis and hope to see more of them soon :)  Thanks for visiting!

I have another project in the Gorjuss series for Quick Creations for you today.  This is New Heights by Santoro's Gorjuss :)

This stamps speaks to my heart, as I am a true book lover, and so is my youngest daughter, who unbelievably reads even more than I do, lol.

To complete this card, I also used Gorjuss Ladybird paper, a wooden laser cut from Kaisercraft, some recollections flowers, and a paper clip from Travelogique and some CC Designs Amy R. Winged Sentiments rubber stamps.  The colors I have used to color her are as follows:  Prismacolor Pencils and Copics

Skin: E000
PC927, 939, 1029
Hair:  Y21
PC1003, 1034, 943, 948

The Paper Nest Dolls Challenge and some Pumpkins :)

Can you feel it?  Not vibrantly yet, but every now and then?  Sneaking into our otherwise wonderfully warm summer?  Yes, fall is coming, gasp!  Lol, I'm not complaining, fall happens to be my most favorite season.  I love the freshness that a little bit of cool air adds to the warmed up atmosphere.  And the colors!  How can you not be in love with the wonderful colors of fall!

It's time for a new challenge over at The Paper Nest Challenge Blog and I have chosen to do one of last month's new releases for fall, Pumpkin Ellie :)

I have colored her using my Lyra Rembrandt Poly Colors.  I have had these for months but just kept going back to my good old beloved Prismas, lol.  So I thought I would finally give these a go.  And, yes, they are wonderful, although I think I prefer the massive color choices allowed by the Prismas.  Polychromos are my next indulgent art purchase lol (this month's indulgent art purchase was gelatos, stay tuned for a post!)  So here are my colors for Pumpkin Ellie :  (I also used my Copics and Prismacolor Markers, denoted by the first set of numbers)

Hair:  Y32
82, 76, 75, 02
Skin:  E00
31, 32, 90
Clothes:  PB82, YR24
87, 76, 75, 195, 97
Headband:  PB82, YR24
87, 75, 76, 01
Pumpkins:  YR02, PB82
87, 17, 13, 02, 75, 76, 87, 01, 02
Wheelbarrow:  YG63, PB108
74, 73, 96, 97, 98, 65, 01

To finish this project, I used paper from the Jillibean Soup Country Pumpkin Chowder 6 x 6 paper pad, and paper doilies, paper flowers and clothespin all from Recollections (Michael's), a memo pin from Tim Holtz/Ranger and the 'Thanks' stamp from Travelogique.  The ribbon is an unnamed ribbon from my stash (of which I have quite a few lol).

Sigh, I love the colors of fall, and try as hard as I am, I cannot find many fall/autumn patterned papers.  Very sad :(  Tons of Halloween colors, but sadly not many fall colors, in fact none.  Personally I would much rather celebrate fall than Halloween.  But maybe that's just me lol.

If you are looking for sweet images to use in your projects, please come and visit The Paper Nest Dolls online store.  You can also find some digi images over on Etsy!

Come and join in the monthly challenge for your chance to win some images!  The challenge is always the first Monday of every month and is always ANYTHING GOES!  See you there!

The East Wind Newsletter Freebie :)

Have you signed up for The East Wind Newsletter yet?  If not, you are surely missing out.  This month's newsletter freebie is called Party Girl and she will be available in the Etsy shop in a few days I'm sure :)

I have colored her with my Copics, Prismacolor Markers and Prismacolor Premiere pencils in the following colors:

Hair:  PB199
PC1082, 1099
Skin:  E000
PC927, 939, 1029
Shirt:  G12
PC912, 1096, 908
Skirt:  R22
PC1092, 1031, 1081
Socks:  G00
PC920, 1006, 907
Boots/Gloves:  PB108
PC1063, 935, 938

I finished this piece with paper from the Recollections 12 x 12 Today, Tomorrow, Forever pad, Recollections Pearl half-backs, and I also used Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink to distress all the edges.

This little girl stared at me for a while before I finally put pencil to paper to color her.  I just couldn't decide on a color scheme!  So, I threw caution to the wind and grabbed the first piece of paper I could see on my shelf, lol.  And this is what I picked.  I always find its easier to match colors to the paper, rather than the other way around anyways, but it was a new experience for me to grab any paper and make the image work with it instead of specifically picking paper that will go with the image.  It was a happy experiment, lol.  I think it worked out just fine.

If you are looking for new and original images to create with and color, then you really need to go and visit The East Wind Etsy shop.  Unky Lastrange has so many amazing images, she is a marvel with a pencil.

You can also find The East Wind on Facebook, Youtube, Pinterest and Instagram!  Come on over and join us for some inspiration, you won't be disappointed!
