Crafty Ribbons Inspiration

Its inspiration time for me at Crafty Ribbons, and here is what I made for you today:

I created this card using the embossed resist technique, which I learned from this Youtube video.
I used several different ribbons from Crafty Ribbons:  The flower is made using 16mm Ivory Grosgrain Ribbon that I dyed to match the distress ink on the paper.  The back flower and lace across the front of the card is is made with Etienne Cotton Lace in Honey.  I also used the Handmade tag ribbon, which I absolutely love and will be using on all of my future projects :)

You can find all kinds of fabulous lace, ribbon and buttons on the Crafty Ribbons website, and don't forget about our fort-nightly challenges over on the challenge blog!

My favourite piece :)

I can't believe I forgot to show you a super fun piece I made last month!  This image is by The East Wind, called Lucy Loo Profile, and I had so much fun coloring and making this project, I want to do her again with different hair colors and themes.

Lucy Loo - Profile, by The East Wind

I colored using my Prismacolor Pencils and then added her to a shadow box frame that I embellished further with patterned paper, metal embellishments and distress inks.  The background is done with copics and rubbing alcohol, and I have added white dots with liquid acrylic white ink.  This one is going up in my house as it is my absolute favouritest (yes, it's a word in my dictionary :P) project yet!

I love The East Wind images, they are so unique and original :)  And I have learned so much from Unky Lastrange, just watching her videos is very illuminating!

Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to visit theeastwind.com for more wonderful images, and join in on the challenges!

Punk Never Dies!

I have a gorgeous new release from The East Wind today to show you.  She is called Lucy Loo:  Punk Never Dies!  She was so much fun to color.  Unky must have read my subliminal messages, cuz she gave me just what I wanted:  funky hair to color!

Lucy Loo:  Punk Never Dies by The East Wind

This image was a blast to color, and I enjoy coloring lots of hair :)  I colored her with my Prismacolor Pencils, and layered up with paper from the 6 x 6 Modern Elegance pad by Ki.  The flower and bow are made from Etienne Lace from Crafty Ribbons, as well as the Handmade tag, and I added some Cheery Lynn Fancy Flourish die cuts in pink to add contrast.

Lucy Loo:  Punk Never Dies by The East Wind
There are so many images over in The East Wind Etsy shop that I want to color!  These fun images are so original, I haven't any others like them yet!

Stay tuned, because I promise to have several images a month from this new digital image company.  I also happen to really enjoy chatting with Unky while I color her images :)

Happy Family Day from Ode to Paper and The Paper Nest Dolls

Its Family Day here in Canada, and I will be spending my afternoon with both of my beautiful daughters.  But first, some inspiration for The Paper Nest Dolls :)

Flower Cart Avery by The Paper Nest Dolls
I used the Flower Cart Avery image for this card.  The flowers got me :)  I love to color flowers :P
Of course, I colored this sweet image with my Prismacolor Pencils, but I didn't write down my colors this week, my apologies it was a seriously busy week.  The Handmade tag and red bow are made with ribbon from Crafty Ribbons.  They have such gorgeous ribbon and lace!

These images from Inky Impressions are some of the sweetest and realistic characters I have seen, and they are so much fun to color and add personality to.  I used this image to create a windowed gate-fold card, with papers from the Front Porch 6 x 6 paper pad made by Pebbles.

I embellished the card with a handmade flower, as well as some paper flowers from Michaels, and some chipboard shapes from Piccolo by Sweet Stamps.  The die cuts are made using the Spellbinders, Cheery Lynn, and Joycraft die sets.

Hello everyone, from the blizzardy and cold north!  Wow, this weather is something else this month.  -40 c the other morning when I went to work, and tonight its -20 and snowing like crazy!  I guess it just wouldn't be winter up here without a ton of snow, but I can really do without the bitter cold, lol.

So, with that in mind, I have sworn off winter themed cards and images :)

Today I am featuring "Polly" from Whimsy Stamps/Wee Stamps, available in the Quick Creations online store. And Noelle has just informed me that this rubber stamp image is being featured this week and is currently on sale! Run, don't walk!

It's Crafty Ribbons Challenge time!

Hi!  I am so excited to tell you that....I have been accepted on the Crafty Ribbons DT!  Woohoo!

And for my first challenge post, the theme is nautical.

For this card I used three different stamp sets:  Stampin' Up - The Open Sea, Prima Clear Stamps, and Fiskars - Journey.  I stamped the images with Staz On ink, and then stamped and embossed them with clear embossing powder, but have offset them.  I used black satin cord to wrap around the base card  stock, then added the sentiment popped up on dimensional adhesives.  The ribbon is wire-edged and I also added some dangling celtic-knot hearts from the bow.  I had to enlist the help of my youngest daughter (a sailor ) to make the dangling hearts for me and I really like how they add to the overall theme of the card.

Crafty Ribbons has a a new challenge every fortnight, and you can have lots of inspiration over on their inspiration blog from their wonderful Desigin Team :)

If you would like to purchase some of their beautiful ribbon, you can find it in their online store here :)  Thanks for visiting, see you again soon!

Noelle Martin at Quick Creations sent me this rubber stamp for my DT project this week, and yes, she was fun to color up :)

I added the image to some colored paper and card stock and added some ribbon and bows.  I also made some Kanzashi leaf sprigs to add to the ribbon as well as around the bottom of the image.  I have embellished this card further by adding some paper roses and rhinestones, and I distressed the edges of the die-cut butterflies with Spun Sugar Distress Ink and then heat embossed it with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.  That stuff is so awesome!

I told everyone I was boycotting V-Day this year (and maybe every year), but somehow...I can't say no to Noelle Martin at Quick Creations.  She is far too good to me :)  So Noelle, this one's for you babe :P

Noelle asked me to do a project for the hop using this sweet stamp from Crafter's Companion.  It's called Heartfelt Wishes from the Everyday with Barkley collection :)  Noelle has this one and many other sweet stamps in her online shop, Quick Creations.

I added the quilting to the large heart by using a checkerboard stencil and then moving the checkerboard to the center of the open areas.  I colored this rubber stamp image with my Prismacolor pencils and of course, I have misplaced my noted with the colors used....sorry :P
