Be Real Mixed Media Art Journal Page

I sure hope everyone is staying warm out there!  We just got hit with a big winter storm here in North Western Ontario!  I have another art journal page to share with you today.  This one is called Be Real.

I think the background turned out so well, it looks like tree bark! First I stamped a large stamp with a tree and some text on it.  Then I used a tree ring stencil to add some clear modelling paste.

Then I employed one of my favourite techniques...acrylic paint and glazing medium, and then added plastic wrap, made wrinkles and let it sit for a couple minutes.  After removing the plastic wrap, I wiped off the modelling paste and let everything dry again. 

I added some ink to the edges to frame it in and cut some dark brown burlap, and ripped some design paper.  I added ink around the edges of the design paper as well.

I chose my words and placed them on a very small manila shipping tag and distressed them with acrylic paint to match the background.

I added the word stickers from Tim Holtz and framed them in with black marker and distress ink.  This page doesn't have a lot of steps, but it sure has a great finish!  Thanks again for stopping by, I'll see you again soon :)
