Two-Sheet Wonder with Crafty Ribbons

What do you do when your mojo has taken a hike?  When he has suddenly gone on a vacation without you?  I'm pretty sure mine has been sunning himself on a nice warm beach somewhere while I am here at home trying to create without him...the nerve.

Well, when I am mojo-less, I do one of three things.  I learn something new, I CASE someone's creation (giving them credit of course!), or I create a batch of cards using the one-sheet wonder technique...or in this case, a two-sheet wonder!

WARNING...this post is very picture heavy, sorry :)  With just two sheet of gorgeous patterned paper, I created 16 cards lol.  And then I adorned them with some luscious Crafty Ribbons to make them just perfect :)  I  am showing you half of the cards here, and for the other 8 you'll have to visit the Crafty Ribbons inspiration blog here :)  Sneaky right? Lol.

I had a TON of fun creating all 16 of these cards.  So much fun, in fact, that I have another 14 in the works lol, this time with only one sheet of patterned paper, lol.

To embellish these cards, I used many different ribbons and some lace from Crafty Ribbons which I will list below.

Christmas Traditions Challenge with Crafty Ribbons :)

It's my turn to host the 12 Weeks of Christmas Challenge for Crafty Ribbons, and for the theme this week, I chose Christmas Traditions!

One of the traditions you find very common up here in the north is pinecones :)  You will often walk into a friend or relative's house during the Christmas season and find a bowl of pinecones, lol.  Au naturale, or painted, glittered, or dressed up.  It doesn't really matter, cuz it's the pinecone that counts!

So in honour of this Christmas tradition, I created this holiday card using a pinecone stamp, and some Wink of Stella, and finished it with some gorgeous Christmas Charm Ribbon - Snowflakes.

Have you joined us in the 12 Weeks of Christmas challenges yet?  If not, there is only one more left after this week!  Come on over and join us for your chance to win a prize from Crafty Ribbons!

Some Crafty Ribbons Inspiration For YOU!

Hello everyone!  Are you enjoying the fall weather?  Although this is usually my most favorite time of year, this year I'm having a wee bit of trouble getting used to the colder weather...must be my old bones lol.

For my inspiration piece for Crafty Ribbons this week, I have created two cards.  Yes I know, lol, I usually create in sets of three, but when I created the vellum for this piece I only cut it into two pieces, therefore...only two cards!  Confused yet?  Join the party :P

I used the very pretty Morlaix Cotton Lace to finish this project, and I just love how they turned out :)

If you are looking for beautiful ribbons and lace, you really do need to check out the Crafty Ribbons website.

And don't forget to come and join us for the 12 weeks of Christmas challenges, happening over on the challenge blog right now!

Some Inspiration from Crafty Ribbons

Hello everyone :0  The sun is shining and it is so beautiful here today.  A little bit of a breeze, but that's not a bad thing :)  Keeps you cool in the heat of the sun when you are on your deck relaxing and reading.  That's what I enjoy doing, and that is what inspired me to make today's projects for Crafty Ribbons.

I created three ribbon bookmarks, one for myself and for each of my girls.

I used ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, six different kinds of ribbon on three bookmarks...yes, I had a ton of fun making these!  The widest ribbon is made using the French Stamps 25 mm Grosgrain Ribbon, some 14 mm white seam binding, and some Swiss dot organza ribbon in island blue and white.

The middle ribbon is made using 23 mm Grosgrain Ribbon in a soccer ball pattern, some 14 mm white seam binding and some green Jumbo Ric Rac.

And for the last bookmark, I used the Vintage Birds 9mm Gosgrain ribbon, and Swiss Dots grosgrain ribbon in purple and gold.

I completed these bookmarks by adding ribbon crimp ends, beads and charms to each end of the bookmarks.  Top:  Make sure you choose ribbon crimp ends that are the same size as your ribbon :)

Don't forget to come and visit the challenge blog and get in on the action over there!  And also visit the Crafty Ribbons online shop for all your ribbon, lace and button needs and wants (of course lol).  Have a great crafty day!

Some Crafty Ribbons Inspiration :)

For my inspiration for Crafty Ribbons this week, I made a hair clip using pink and white ribbon and lace, as well as some nylon leaves and white glitter stamens.

I used 35mm pink satin ribbon, 35mm white ribbon, 35mm fuschia organza ribbon, 14mm white cotton ribbon, 13mm French cotton lace, and 9mm Handmade ribbon in white.  I used a Kanzashi technique to create this rose , and added the white string pearls, leaves and glitter stamen to finish it off.

Crafty Ribbons has so many beautiful ribbons to choose from, and they are such a great quality for creating with.  Thanks for visiting.  Check back soon for more Ribbon Inspiration for Crafty Ribbons!

It's Challenge Time at Crafty Ribbons :P

Wow, it's that time again for the Button Team over at the Crafty Ribbons challenge blog!

I have used the Retro Cars ribbon to create a nice and simple #1 Father card that also hold a gift card ;)

I created this longer card to match the ribbon, so no sketch followed this time :)  The ribbon didn't allow it.  I know, excuses, excuses, lol.

I also used the handmade ribbon, and added it to the back of the popped-up sentiment :)

Lastly, I created the pocket out of one part of the ribbon panel, perfectly fits a gift card!  What dad wouldn't like a gift card to his favorite handy-man store, sports store, or other fun he-man sort of place?

I hope that since you are reading this post, you have come from the Crafty Ribbons challenge blog, and that means you are going to join us!  Hope to see you there!

A Special Card for Mother's Day

My project for Quick Creations this week, is a special card for Mother's Day.  Noelle asked me to make a card using the Whimsy Rubber Stamp Fistful of Flowers by Crissy Armstrong :)

I colored her up with my Prismacolor Premiere Pencils on vellum in the following colors:

Hair - PC943, 944, 946
Skin - PC927, 939, 1029
Bows/Pants - PC1027, 901
Shirt - PC914, 916, 1034
Flowers - PC930, 1030
Greens - PC1096, 908

I made the large flower myself using the Tim Holtz Alterations die, and added paper flowers from recollections, as well as adhesive rhinestones and ribbon.  The vellum is cut with the Spellbinder's Floral Ovals die and backed with white card stock.  The background paper is from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy "Serendipity" 6 x 6 paper pad.

This card turned out so sweet, I just love it.  I have linked all the products that you can find in Noelle's online shop at Quick Creations.  And don't forget to come to the Challenge blog to join in the monthly challenges.

Crafty Ribbons Inspiration Wedding Card

Hello everyone, I have a super sweet card to show you today for Crafty Ribbons :)

I created this wedding card, by first making a watercolor background with my super awesome Zig watercolors.  I matched the ribbon to the watercolors before I started of course :P

Then I used a wide sheer ribbon to create flower petals in Kanzashi style and then created the bloom.  I added stamen and a gingham ribbon bow, and voila!  If you would like to see how these Kanzashi petals are made, I shall do a tutorial soon.  But to be honest, you can find a ton of tutorials on youtube.  That's how I learned.

For all your ribbon, lace and button needs, please visit the Crafty Ribbons website.  And don't forget about the challenges, you can find them here :)  You can also find Crafty Ribbons on Pinterest and Facebook.  Tata for now!

Wildflowers...in a jar!

Had a wee bit of fun with these rubber stamps from Noelle Martin over at Quick Creations :)  She asked me to use the CC Designs Mason Jar Stamp and the Denami Flower Bloom stamp...together!!!!  Another challenge to learn from.  After pondering this request for a couple weeks I finally decided to turn the mason jar on its side and plant a garden inside!

I have blocked in the colors with my copics, and then added the shading and details with my Prismacolor Premiere Pencils :)

I have also used paper from the Doodlebug "Hello Sunshine" 6 x 6 paper pad :)  I will link everything I have used to the Quick Creations shop so you can find it easily :)

Don't forget to join in on the fun at the Challenge blog for a chance to win a great prize from the Quick Creations online shop :)  You can also find Quick Creations on Facebook and Instagram!

A favourite new technique and Quick Creations :)

One of my favorite new techniques is the white pencil crayon on black card stock :)  And this is the first image I tried it with.  This is Bella with Daisy by Wild Rose Studio for Quick Creations and Noelle Martin (she's such a sweetie-pie).

I love the simplicity of this technique (plus it cuts down on the amount of supplies to bring with you if yer on the move :), and the starkness of the white on black just makes the image stand out that bit more.  I prefer to use pencil for this technique, although I'm sure you could achieve it with other mediums, because it allows me to add the shading by softening my pressure on the pencil.

You can find this awesome rubber stamp image in Noelle's online store at Quick Creations :)  Don't forget about the monthly challenges for a chance to win a gift certificate the store!

Other products used in this project include ribbon from Crafty Ribbons :)

Pretty Little Notecards

I made these pretty note cards set for my inspiration piece this week for Crafty Ribbons.  I was only going to make one, but I had so much fun making the background papers that I couldn't stop at one :)

I used the Cotton lace in these pieces to make the flowers....

And the sentiments ribbon for the sentiments...

And of course I added the handmade ribbon tags :)  The background papers and ATC cards are all handmade by me, using a Stampin' Up stamp and a wax paper relief technique :)

You can find all kinds of lovely ribbon in the Crafty Ribbons online store, and also join their bi-weekly challenges !

Some ribbon jewelry fun!

My piece this week was supposed to be a challenge piece for the beginning of the month for Crafty Ribbons. But due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to take some time off.  I am back and ready to roll, lol, and here it is :

I created this vintage looking necklace using the Flower Blocks sheer ribbon, and heat embossed the edges with fuschia embossing powder.  This is the first time I try this technique and at first I worried about the ribbon ruffling in the heat, but it actually adds to the authenticity of the flower :)  I won't worry over that any more.  I added the rose and some pearl trim to a metal embellishment, and added chain and some danglies to complete the piece.  I am quite happy with the outcome of this piece and will be making more ribbon jewelry on the future ;)

I am so excited that this piece will be published in Scrap 'n Art Magazine in July's issue!  The photo will be replaced in September ;)
